I met Garett and Ashley much later than I was supposed to. Back in April, I had a trip planned to Charleston, SC… my first ever. My long time bestie and myself had a long weekend trip away planned, car rented, AirB&B booked, and an itinerary full of fun places to see and eat. Built in was Ashley and Garett’s engagement session. COVID had other plans. With pretty much a nation wide shut down, my plans were cancelled. I was so bummed. Bummed about missing out on that food, but more bummed about not getting to meet and photograph Garett and Ashley is such a gorgeous place.
Fast forward a few months and they had made their way to VA for a wedding planning trip. We decided on Ashley’s parents house in the Middle Peninsula overlooking the water. It was a windy but beautiful day. I had the pleasure to get to know these two, their fun, playful personalties mixed with cool laid back vibe that I feel like so many Charlestoners have. We chatted about Covid, how things had changed, how they met, got to know each other, what took them south, and so on. We laughed a lot, and that is always my biggest hint that I have fantastic clients.
On the day of Garett and Ashley’s wedding, I was pleasantly surprised that there was ZERO chance of rain. I was due for a win in that category. LOL. A little cloudy (perfect for waterfront pictures), cool, and all around PERFECT. I watched family and friends surround them with well wishes, love, and happiness. I watched these two people that I had not known very long promise forever to each other and know, just by the huge genuine smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes, that they meant it.
The most gorgeous orange and pink sunset cover their first dances. As the sun dipped away the party started and the guests weren’t holding back. I don’t know if it was the fact that we were coming off of a 7 month isolation or if they just knew how to throw down but they partied like there was no tomorrow. It was chilly outside on the beach, but they knew how to keep warm! It was such a fun and amazing day.
Garett and Ashley thank you so much for including me on your day. We had our share of bumps in the road but you two kept a level head and weren’t going to let anything keep you from enjoying your day! It went off without a hitch and I am so happy you got the day you always dreamed of! One day I will make it to Charleston, and when I do… we are gonna eat…. A LOT!!! LOL
