The skies were heavy with clouds during the drive out Palmyra. It drizzled on and off the whole way. I’ll admit I was frustrated. Yet another inaccurate weather report. Radar wasn’t even pulling up the moisture I was seeing. After a 6 month hiatus from weddings, I have been really happy to get back into the swing of things and celebrate with my clients…. but man, I haven’t been able to catch a break with the weather. Once I got there it had stopped raining but it was still dark, dreary, and everything just looked soaking wet.
I drove down this long gravel driveway and rounded a corner to see the most adorable barn venue ever! Two barns built of reclaimed wood sat overlooking the rolling hills outside of Charlottesville. The newer barn had lots of windows, doors on one side, and a set of french doors on the front that were gorgeous. Kelley is from the NNK so I asked her why she chose this location…. Her answer was the barn! I couldn’t blame her after seeing it. The venue owners definitely had photographers in mind when they built this place!
Even though the weather was being a pain, Kelley and Justin were so chill. Their attitudes really made for an enjoyable, laid back day! Justin is from OK and I could tell by his boots, belt buckle, wranglers, and hat that this was not a “Virginia Cowboy”. After living in SD for a few years, I learned there is a difference… LOL ( no offense to ANYONE 😉 ) This Virginia girl got herself a real cowboy and they are just adorable together!
Thankfully the rain held off all day and everything was able to done outside. Kelley was beautiful in her fitted lace gown and Justin, elegant with his black cowboy hat. Family and friends came from all over to watch these two say “I Do”. I was so happy to be a part of such a sweet intimate celebration.
Kelley and Justin, your day ended up beautifully! Thank you so much for allowing me to capture it for you! I wish you both a lifetime of happiness!

XOXO
