This wedding is super close to my heart. When Lonnie and I made the decision to move back to the NNK (we were in Gloucester) I REALLY wanted to be back in my home county of Lancaster. My husband being from South Dakota needed land… and let’s face it… we aren’t rich… so finding large acerage in Lancaster was pretty imposible. We ended up settling in Richmond county and I wasn’t excited. It was, like a lot of things in marriage, a compromise. We didn’t even live here a week before we met David’s family. A few weeks after that, my husband tried to burn down our newly purchased property (not on purpose 😉 ) and again, it was David to the rescue along with others from the RCVD. We were off to a GREAT start in our new home county! LOL… But ever since that moment we have grown to LOVE this family. We know that we can and do call on them whenever we need anything and they are always RIGHT THERE to help however they can. They have made this place feel like home to us and for that I can’t express my gratitude. My children love them, I love them, and they have welcomed my husband and made this far away place feel a little more like home.
So all of that was mainly about David and his family, but Amaris has been a part of that (for us) since day one, too. When I talk about David and his family that 100% inludes her. When I found out they were engaged and that they wanted me to photograph their wedding I was humbled and honored to be a part of it… not just there as a photographer, but as a guest, too. Their day was HOT. Probably the hottest wedding day I have ever experienced. It was also the earliest wedding I have ever done, at 11 in the morning. It was a great call to try and beat the day’s heat and humidity and we lucked out with an overcast morning. Amaris LOVES sunflowers and it was her theme at their wedding. David and his dad planted sunflowers on some property they own so they could have them as a backdrop during their ceremony. The heat kinda threw a wrench in their growing schedule so we headed to our own property after the ceremony for their bride and groom pictures. It made it feel that much more personal. To go to MY home in the middle of a wedding day to take pictures… It was just so so special.
David and Amaris… I hope you guys know how much you mean to us. You’re more than friends at this point… you’re family… and we are so so thankful for your presence in our lives!! I can’t wait keep on living life with you guys right around the corner!! XOXO
