Have you ever had an idea; a vision. Something you can see if your idea and a path it would take? 6 years ago I remember telling my husband it would be a dream come to true to be a wedding photographer! Since high school I knew I loved photography and could be happy with a career in it, but specifically, weddings were my passion. The emotion, the beauty, the dresses (I’ve ALWAYS had a slight obsession with wedding gowns), the LOVE! Everything about them.
Fast Forward to last fall. I contacted a local wedding and event planner, Kendall Webre. I actually knew Kendall from high school (even though she doesn’t remember me 😉 ). I presented her with the idea of doing stylized wedding. Basically the re-creation of wedding reception. ALL the details. Flowers, cake, paper, hair and makeup, a gown, a tux, a theme, and a table where the theme of the wedding is present and executed. She was on board. She had been wanting to the same thing. So we were off! After a few meetings and discussions we decided that we put a twist on this event and ask ONLY local vendors to participate. That way, we could show OUR community that YOU CAN plan ALL aspects of your wedding LOCALLY! That is HUGE here! We are small town, a small community. Close knit and dependent on each other for our livelihood. We are PROUD of that. We approached the vendors with this idea and perspective and they were all on board!
So… The sum of our planning and our hard work. A culmination of ideas and perspectives all focused on ONE event and executed beautifully. All vendors involved did a BEAUTIFUL job and I couldn’t be more proud fo the results. You CAN plan your wedding locally. It CAN be unique. It CAN be GORGEOUS.
This event was a dream come true for me. I cried several times during this day. It was that moment for me. That one where you look around and realize everything you have ever hoped for and dreamed of came true. I know this isn’t the big time. That there is so much more out there and so many bigger things… but for me, this was MY Mount Everest. I had reached the top. The cool thing though… I looked up and realized that there was still so much further to go! This was only the beginning for me! I am already planning the next one! More details, more ideas…
