So let’s talk a second about intimidation. Like when you do something for a living and someone who does the same thing asks you to provide that serivce to them… Like when the bride, Kari, who is an AMAZING photographer in King William asks you to photograph her wedding. WOW! All sorts of feelings hit at once. The biggest was intimidation. Kari and I connected a little over a year ago. The world of photographers is big so it is rare to find a friendship, a real friendship, in the midst of it all. We would talk, throw ideas at each other, vent, ask advice, and just support each other. Through the length of that friendship we never actually met in person before her wedding day. I have to say she was everything I expected and everything I loved. Her joy was contagious. She was laid back, fun, and trusting.
I didn’t know much about Mike. But everything I could ever wish to know I learned the moment he saw Kari walking down the isle and the moments he held his children in his arms through out the night. The man loves. He provides. He supports.
I fell in love with this little family on this day. If I didn’t admire Kari enough already, it was complete after their day. As the day wore on my fears subsided a bit and it turned to happiness. I was honored to be there and honored to witness these two promise forever.
Thank you Kari and Mike for trusting me. I know it couldn’t have been easy letting go and stepping in front of the camera when you are so used to being behind it. You both rocked your day and it couldn’t have been more beautiful!
