Quickly she churned north-east bringing destruction in her wake. Heavy winds, rain, and flooding; all of it threatening a day that had been months in the making. No one really knew what to expect. As little as a few hours before the start of Lauren and Johnny’s wedding, reports of Hurricaine Hermine’s weather were all over the place. Realism verses hopes were at odds. Plans were made for the worst case scenario but no one wanted to put them into action.
It was nothing short of a miracle. The predictions about this storm were scary, but the day she made it to the Northern Neck she suddenly calmed down. There were some wind gusts, and small, short periods of slight rain…. but it was a Hurricaine – on the water! I was amazed. I was THANKFUL!
This wedding was gorgeous! The amount of details, the colors, the hard work of the vendors and of the bride and groom and their families… They created something out of a magazine… and their love? Something out of book. I watched and cried as Johnny saw Lauren walking toward him. Everyone felt his emotions during that moment. He was the happiest man on earth and Lauren, I know, was the happiest woman. This was their moment on their day and no matter the rain or wind, they let it in and experienced it all.
I watched them the rest of the day surrounded by their friends and family and felt so thankful. So thankful to get to experience this joy as an occupation. It was pure joy. They danced and laughed and shared the first moments of the happiest day of their life with people they loved. The whole day, from beginning to end was a testament to love… a testament to miracles.
Lauren and Johnny it was such an honor to be there with you two on this day! You have such an amazing life ahead of you and I can’t wait to see it!
