When I was on my way to this wedding I was refelcting about the wedding I photographed the day before. Thinking about what I would write in the blog post and how thankful I am that I had known that bride the majority of our lives. I then began to think about what I would be able to say for THIS blog post. I got a little worried. I didn’t know this bride or groom. I was referred to them by an awesome lady I had worked with a couple of months before. How was I going to talk about two people who were strangers to me? Well… I worried for no reason. I find myself tearing up writing this (yes, that happens a lot) because I don’t think I have EVER clicked with two people more quickly in all of my life. I felt so connected to Stephanie. I am not sure if it was her sweet southern charm – Her whole family has this quality – or the complete trust she had in me and my decisions but I just fell in love with her. And let me just say… Chris KNOWS and LOVES this woman. When we spoke on the phone I could tell that he completely understood the woman he was about to marry and wanted her to have EVERYTHING her heart had ever wanted for this day. I respect him immensly for that. He commands authority and respect but in a way that makes you want to give it. He brought in the Honor Guard as a surprise for Stephanie and their presence gave me such pride – I can’t imagine what it did for them.
Yesterday I had the sweetest voicemail on my phone from Stephanie. I miss her. She is someone I am greatful to have in my life – even if it is from a distance. And who knows… maybe Langely will be in their future one day and we can have our days out shopping and grabbing coffee together!
I know this is a strange post. And it may seem strange to hear me talking about someone I barely know like this – but It’s true. I adore this lady… and I adore this couple.
Chris and Stephanie… from the bottom of my heart I wish you two nothing but a lifetime of happiness together! I sincerely hope our paths will cross again one day and THANK YOU for your service to this Country. We need more people like you!
XOXO
