Happy Valentines Day! It’s a beautiful February day and the perfect day to showcase Ben and Ashley’s November wedding!
I wish I could say the weather that day was as beautiful as it is today, but I can’t. I think it may have been the one time the weathermen had their long term forecast correct. Ashley and I both were nervous about the weather forecast in the days leading to her wedding. I don’t think either of us were prepared for how rough it actually was. Heavy, soaking, sideways rain. Any chance of outdoor pictures was gone. I was so sad because I knew how important these photos were to Ashley. Photographing everything with a flash was out of my comfort zone. I know how to do it, but it changes the pace of the day when you’re not accustomed to doing it. Luckily, Hollyfield has this bar room that both Ben and Ashley LOVE. They wanted pictures in there anyway, so we just moved most of them down there. It’s rustic and beautiful and gives her photos a warm, cozy feeling.
Although Ben and Ashley had more stress than couples want on their wedding day, they kept their hearts and eyes on what was most important. All that mattered was laying eyes on each other. All that mattered were the promises they were about to make to one another. All that mattered was that final kiss as boyfriend and girlfriend and first kiss as husband and wife. They were together, complete, and surrounded by the love and support of their family and friends. Manquin could have been raized to the ground around them that day and it wouldn’t have mattered cause they were in each other’s arms. It was beautiful to witness. It’s the trying times that show what you’re made of, and the weather that day amplified what was already there – LOVE.
Ashley and Ben, I can’t thank you enough for trusting me to capture your day. In some ways it wasn’t what we expected or hoped for, but in every way that mattered, it was everything we hoped for and more.
Love you guys!
