It’s hard to know where to start this post. As I sit here and reflect on 2014 and all of the AMAZING things that I was able to experience I am truly humbled. Don’t get me wrong, it was full of it’s share of dissapointments but the good FAR outweighed the bad. I made so many new friends – both within the photography industry and out. New Clients which are also now new friends. I saw new places and tried new things. This is what it is all about! No matter what you do for a living!
This time last year I set some goals – things I wanted to see happen for my business. Here they are listed below and here is the status of each one a year later.

Photograph 15 Weddings (only 2 left to reach this goal). – The total number of weddings for 2014 was 20! I reached and exceded my goal – and for 2015 I am already 23! It’s so amazing that I actually have to think about what number to set my limit at!

Plan and Photograph a stylized wedding shoot. – Thanks to the help of some AMAZING LOCAL vendors this goal was accomplished in Feb. Not only did we make it happen but it was PRINTED in a local magazine “The Local” – it’s still on stands!

More classes and education. – In February of last year I attended an amazing conference in Santa Barbara with hundreds of other amazing photographers and teachers. The things I learned are too many to mention and stretched beyone photography. I also won a ticket to a two day workshop in Raleigh, NC.

Learn Off Camera Flash (OCF) – Mid season I invested in new flash gear. What a difference it made. It helped take so much guess work out of what I was doing and made the task of learning this beast a little easier. I still have things to learn, but I am so much more confident popping those flashes on and getting it right the first time!

Teach a Class on Understanding Your Camera – So this didn’t happen. haha… This is SUPER SUPER scary. There are so many “what if’s” that go with this! BUT I already have a date set for this in 2015! It’s gonna happen and sooner rather than later!

Be Featured on a Known Blog – 6 features in wedding blogs or magazines this year! It’s hard putting yourself out there to be critiqued by people who scrutinize images for a living! But the joy you get when you get that acceptance e-mail is SO SO worth it!

Re-brand- Of all the things that happened for my business in 2014 this was the most exciting! Choosing to have someone do this for me instead of trying to do it myself was the best decision I made. The result was perfect! I found my market in the “local bride”. My heart is happy working with people who share a common thread.

With so many positive things that happened this year i’m struggling to set new goals for my business. Gosh, I really hope that didn’t sound arrogant! I just really am trying to figure out where I want to try and navigate this business to this coming year.
So while I figure things out… I want to say a HUGE HUGE thank you to all of my clients who trusted me this past year with so many memories and moments in their lives. You all are beautiful, meaningful, precious individuals with stories to tell.
Let’s write some masterpieces in 2015!!!
XOXO, Ash

I wish I could go through and post my favorite images of the families and kids I photographed this year.  It was just take too long… haha…but here is a small recap of my brides and grooms from 2014!
